The Groovineers will be jazzing up Revelstoke at the Jazz Club

by Wendy Lucas
Jazz lovers in Revelstoke have an opportunity to take in yet another excellent jazz performance this coming Friday – this time to enjoy the local jazz trio, The Groovineers are rooted in Jazz but throw in Blues, Rock and Groove styles.
Trio members have been playing together locally for a few years with other bands. While members have come and gone, the core has remained. The current lineup features Darcy Purcell on guitar, Matt Yaki on drums and Dave Marfleet on bass. The Groovineers are a dynamic group of players that can cover a wide range of music. Both Matt and Dave come from the Jazz program at Humber College in Toronto and have established themselves as a fine rhythm team, combining well with Darcy’s mostly self taught approach to guitar.
There is something for everyone, from classics, standards with a twist to new school funk driven jazz.
Be sure to check them out Friday, April 1st with special guest Carl Laurence at the Revelstoke Jazz Club at the Selkirk Room in the Regent Hotel from 7:30-9:30. Doors open at 7 pm. Admission is by donation.
