Fresh back in the riding from Ottawa, newly minted MP Wayne Stetski talks about learning the ropes on Parliament Hill with Revelstoke Current Publisher David Rooney in an In Conversation video interview recorded last Thursday, February 11.
In Conversation is a series of largely political interviews I have been conducting for RCTV since 2002 and for The Current since I established it in 2009.
Stetski, whose last political job was as Mayor of Cranbrook earlier in the decade, won the riding for the New Democratic Party during the latest Canadian General Election. It had been considered conservative country since Jim Abbott first won it for the Reform Party and ran in subsequent elections under the banners of the Canadian Alliance and Conservative Party of Canada
Stetski said he has been on a steep learning curve since he won last October. And while he is the NDP’s critic for National Parks he recognizes that he has his work cut out for himself if he wants to make a difference for constituents.
