Traditional Lantern Ski was a great way to ring in the New Year

A steady stream of skiers enjoyed the Revelstoke Nordic Club's New Years Lantern Ski at Mount MacPherson Friday night. The chalet at the base was well lit up and volunteers served hot chocolate there and at the Ole Sandberg Hut higher up the Main Loop trail. As the usual, skiers were guided by kerosene lanterns which hung from the trees and posts along the route. Deb Summers (top), who recently moved to Revelstoke, enjoyed the night ski for the first time. She described the ski as "magical. You couldn't have had a better night, with the stars and the mountains. What a way to start off the year!" Laura Stovel photo
