Meet the ladies of MastHERmind: Revelstoke’s new group that should appeal to women entrepreneurs and small business owners. Started a month or so ago on Facebook, the group has ballooned in size and now has 298 members, 25 of whom attended a get-to-know-one-another meeting at the Sandman on Sunday evening, January 17.

“The whole thing has been a bit of a surprise,” said Jackie McDonald, who is a  consultant with Arbonne Canada and one of the women who helped kickstart the group into life after a Facebook conversation. “Within about 24 hours we had 100 members.”

And now, with the group’s first meeting this past weekend, it has 298 members, she said.

Not all of those people attended the inaugural meeting but the 26 women who were there were excited by the possibilities.

“We believe that when empowered women come together amazing things can happen,” Jackie said.

And the women at the meeting are certainly empowered. Some of them are just starting out in their careers but many of them have been in business for themselves for years. There were successful women like cafe owner Krista Cadieux, hostel owner Poppi Reiner, photographer Sarah Mickel, Style Trend owner Diane Bull and Your Office & Art Supplies’ Stacey Lamont, and Naturopath Theresa Camozzi to name just a few.

Founding member Talia Camozzi said the group can be whatever its members want it to be but there are some purposes it is ideal for. It will be a terrific hub for networking and an easy way for young women starting out in the business world to connect with experienced female entrepreneurs.

“We believe we can support each other in many different ways,” she said.

MastHERmind is, at least for now, a private group on Facebook but is searchable as ‘Revelstoke MastHERmind.’ Please click here to visit the group’s Facebook page.
