Friday was a great night for jazz

The Bob Rogers Trio, comprised of Shannon Sternloff on bass guitar, Trevor Wallach on drums and Bob Rogers on trombone put on a great show for fans at the Jazz Club in the Regent Hotel's Selkirk Room on Friday evening January 15. They played original pieces by Sternloff and Rogers as well as jazz favourites for a near-capacity crowd. Next month, the club will feature Thick as Thieves from Salmon Arm on February 15. Kinga Heming from Kelowna will play the room on March 18, followed on April 1 by Revelstoke's Back Alley Jazz, Salmon Arm's Gypsy Jazz on April 22, Bob Rogers Quintet on May 20 and, on June 10, the Bob Shields Trio of Hamilton, Ontario. The May 20 performance will also feature a silent auction fundraiser to benefit the club. Entry to Jazz Club performances is by donation. The doors open at 7 pm and the two-hour performances begin at 7:30. These performances are sponsored by the Regent and Your Office and Art Supplies. David F. Rooney photo
