Axis Mundi won’t be continuing for 2016 due to significant financial losses suffered during its very first event last autumn.

“Our September event was victim to some pretty foul weather, which had a significant impact on the bottom line,” says a statement posted on the festival’s Facebook page. “We have been seeking additional funding to move forward, but it has become apparent we won’t be able to meet our needs.”

The September 18-19 festival, which was to be followed by a second festival this year, was a critical success but a financial failure. Heavy rain put a damper on the outdoor concerts, in particular some of the major performers up at RMR.

Aside from the brief comment on Facebook, the festival organizers thanked the event’s many supporters.
