There's a new time for the Santa Claus Parade on December 5

The Vintage Car Club will marshal the 2015 Santa Claus Parade, which is scheduled for a 12 noon start on Saturday, December 5.
A statement from the Chamber of Commerce said marshalling for parade participants will begin at the Provincial Courthouse 11:30 am.
This is a radically different time. For at least 15 years the parade has been held in the late afternoon. As a journalist who likes to provide photos and video of the parade this is really welcome news and I salute the Chamber for making this decision. The old 4 pm start time meant that lighting conditions were very problematic, especially if it was snowing. Real daylight, even if it is completely overcast, is a welcome change.
The chamber statement encouraged local businesses and organizations to “be creative and register… for the parade” and to visit the chamber’s website at or stop in at 301 Victoria Road West (Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm) for parade instructions and the equired registration form. Completed registration forms must be dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce by December 3.
“Kick off the day with Breakfast with Santa at the United Church from 8 am to 11 am,” the statement said. Photos of children (or even adults) are available for a fee and there are three sittings at this event: 8:30 am, 9:30 am and 10:30 am.
Tickets are on sale at the church office and the Community Centre. Adult tickets are $8, children are $6. People are asked to pick up their tickets in advance.
