Revelstoke Adventure Park hits a milestone with Licence of Occupation application

Illecillewaet Development LP (IDLP), operated and managed locally by Black Tie Properties LP, announces that it has submitted an application and accompanying management plan for Adventure Tourism Licences of Occupation to the BC Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resource Operations.
IDLP’s Revelstoke Adventure Park (RAP) is, it says, “a one-of-a-kind summer adventure activity centre” to be located at Greeley, about 10 kilometres East of town.
“RAP will offer an array of adventure activities; in its preliminary phase it will host two dedicated mountain adventure centres and accompanying guest facilities and services – The Tree Top Adventure Centre and The Bungee Centre,” ILDP said in a statement. “Planned activities include downhill mountain biking, a cliff-top bungee jump, a series of ropes courses and zip lines. Ongoing phases of development will include additional unique attractions, rides and activities integrated into the mountain landscape. Guest facilities will include a lodge, shops, campground, and ultimately chairlifts for access to mountain biking and activities at elevation.”
ILDP says RAP will draw on the doubling of vehicle traffic in the summer months along the Trans-Canada Highway corridor, (source: BC Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure Annual Days of Week Summary for 2014 – Craigellachie Site) and “enhance Revelstoke’s reputation as a leading outdoor adventure-tourism destination and round out the four-season experience.”
It says it will also encourage overnight stays in the area and create new opportunities for all local businesses. RAP will also create at least 250 jobs being created, the company said.
“Nestled on a breathtaking site in the Selkirk Mountains, RAP is to be developed on 64 ha of private land owned by Illecillewaet Development Limited Partnership (IDLP) and 257 ha of adjoining Crown land, when operational,” the statement said. “The majority of Crown land being sought is already within Revelstoke Mountain Resort’s (RMR) existing recreation tenure.”
Jason Roe, COO of ILDP, said he is “excited to get to this step in the development of the Revelstoke Adventure Park. It will be a one-of-a-kind attraction, creating a greater awareness for Revelstoke further enticing visitors to discover our vibrant community throughout the spring, summer and early fall months.”
