With deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, Maurice (Dale) Fonteyne. Dale passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Sunday, August 9, 2015.
Dale was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, on February 28, 1941, and had been a resident of Revelstoke since transferring here with Finning in 1979. During his employment with Finning, Dale and his family lived in Kamloops, Vernon and Terrace before finally moving to Revelstoke. He was an avid sports fan and also a skilled athlete who played hockey, football, fastball and many other sports in his younger years. Dale played for the Wetaskiwin Colonels Intermediate Hockey Team, the undefeated 1956 Wetaskiwin Sabres Football Team and finally hung up his skates after playing Oldtimers hockey in Revelstoke. After retiring from Finning in 2002, Dale worked at the Revelstoke Golf Course and enjoyed his vacations to the US and visits to see his family. Dale’s warmth, kindness and shining personality were shared with everyone that knew him. He was known for having a Pilsner in his hand and was famous for his bacon and eggs. Dale (Dad, Papa) will be deeply missed by all his loved ones and friends.
Dale was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Marlene of Revelstoke; two sons: Marc (Stacey) of Calgary and Todd of Revelstoke; two grandchildren: Adam and Gillian of Calgary; three brothers: Rod (Larra) of Fort St. John, Val (Anna) of Wetaskiwin and Denny (Donna) of Calgary; sister-in-law Pam (Don) Habijanac of Calgary; brother-in-law Blythe (Betty) Herle of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Revelstoke on Saturday morning, August 15, at 11 am with Father Aaron de Dios Celebrant. Interment to follow in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 729 Victoria Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2B5, in memory of Dale.
