The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre (RVAC) has been chosen to participate in the TELUS Fibre for Good program. This means that new Optik TV subscribers in Revelstoke will be directed to www.telus.com/fibreforgood to select which Revelstoke charity will receive a $25 grant on their behalf, courtesy of TELUS. The Centre will be listed as one of the charities that can be chosen. The Visual Arts Society very much hopes subscribers will select the Centre, it said in a statement.
“Please help us to spread the word to family and friends about this wonderful opportunity for charitable funding,” the statement said.

Artist Jo Willems has very kindly set up a mat exchange box in the Kitchen Studio at the Visual Arts Centre.
A statement from The Centre asked that people interested in participating in this program please use the white gloves provided to look through the mats. “Bring your own portfolio/bag to transport mats,” the statement said. “Leave the plastic sleeves in the exchange box because there are more mats available.”
The goal is to set up a mat lab, including purchase of a Logan mat cutter, so all donations are gratefully accepted. Suggested donations: $2 small, $5 medium, and $10 for the larger mats. Once the mat cutter is purchased, workshops for RVAC members will be held on mat cutting and simple framing techniques.

Studio Connexion Gallery in Nakusp is staging an exhibition of pastels by wildlife artist Sharon Bamber, which opens with a reception on Friday, August 14 from 5 pm until 8 pm.

On the Wild Side is on exhibit until Sunday, August 30.
Studio Connexion Gallery is located at 203 Fifth Avenue NW in the heart of Nakusp. When walking, it is only 2 1/2 blocks from Broadway Street. Regular business days are Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm.
