Police have investigated a serious motor vehicle accident on the Trans-Canada Highway, 16 kilometres west of Revelstoke, just after midnight on Thursday, July 2.
Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said two vehicles were involved, both with single male occupants. Both men received serious injuries. The road was closed for the investigation.
“Police attended immediately, with BC Ambulance and Revelstoke Fire Rescue and located one injured male on the roadway,” he said in a statement. “The male who was in the East-bound vehicle was transported to Vernon for further medical treatment.”
The man in the West-bound vehicle was extricated and transported to Salmon Arm for treatment due to the severity of injuries. He suffered serious injuries including multiple fractures and was later transported to Kamloops for further treatment.
The highway, two lanes in this location, was closed while the RCMP Traffic Analyst examined the scene. The vehicles were promptly removed once the scene was thoroughly examined and the roadway was opened to regular traffic at 7 am.
Alcohol is being investigated as a possible cause of the incident, Grabinsky said.
