This past weekend was a big one for Revelstoke’s U14 Rep soccer team, hosting Shuswap on Saturday and Kelowna on Sunday.
The boys had been looking forward to the Sunday game for weeks after a 2-2 tie in Kelowna ended in the boys feeling disrespected. On Saturday the wind blew off the Columbia and Shuswap blew into town. We had a full bench and made use of everyone as the boys went on to win 4-1.
Goal Keeper David Kline kept the boys in it early on as he made a nice save off a penalty kick. After that there was no looking back as the boys play improved as the game went on. It was a good lead up to Sunday’s pivotal rematch.
Sunday was sunny and hot, all the more so as the game was delayed as we waited on officials. They were needed though as the game was physical. After feeling slighted before the boys were not going to be denied and played one of their better games this season, eventually posting a 3-1 win.
To date the boys are now 7-2-2, with only three games remaining in their season. The next two are against the best two teams in the league — undefeated Penticton and Kamloops U14A , who have only lost to Penticton. We hope to show them once again what a small association can do.
Revelstoke can be proud of how these young men represent themselves and our hometown. Here are a couple of photos from their weekend victories:
