This past Sunday, the boys U11 Development team headed to Kamloops for two games against Penticton and Kelowna.
Our first game against Penticton started well with a few scoring opportunities for Revelstoke coming early in the game. Penticton, however, was able to take control of the game with three goals coming from a series of fine passing plays through our defensive line.
Feeling the heat and the pressure, Brodie Patry was able to get Revelstoke on the board with a goal and Thomas MacDonald scored on a penalty kick to bring us within reach of Penticton. However, this team was not to be caught because they rallied their troops and scored two more goals late in the game to take the win.
Revelstoke faced Kelowna during the afternoon in a tense match that played end-to-end for the full 60 minutes. Kelowna scored first but Revelstoke answered quickly to tie the game before the half.
The second half started with another goal from Kelowna, but Revelstoke kept their cool in the Kamloops heat and tied the game with another goal from Thomas MacDonald. Hungry for another win against a Kelowna team, Revelstoke tightened up their passing plays and maintained a strong defensive line. This team effort helped to create the opportunities that Alex Gribbon needed to post two late-game goals for a decisive 4-2 victory for Revelstoke.
