Preparing for a MASS PLANTING!

The landscaping project at the Visual Arts Centre is in full swing. There is now a paved path to The Centre from Vicorial Road that passes through the garden beds that were being filled with gravel, mulch and top soil by a a very active and community-minded crew from the Initial Attack team. The hard work by Ian Ward, Kim Wiggins, Jerry Burrows, Adele Lay and Niall Cobb under a scorching sun on Wednesday, June 10, was deeply appreciated by Centre Executive Director Jackie Pendergast. There efforts are ensuring that the beds will be ready to receive the 500 bedding plants that are to planted on Saturday starting at 10 am. "It's all very exciting and so much has been achieved over the past few weeks," Jackie said. "It's going to look marvellous" If you have some time on Saturday please come down and get your hands dirty planting the new flowers and shrubs. 500 plants sounds like a lot but 20 or 30 volunteers should be able to do is in an hour. Come on down and help make these new garden spaces shine! David F. Rooney photo
