1927 – 2015
Jose Medina passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the age of 87 years. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Revelstoke on Friday afternoon, June 5 at 1 pm with Father Aaron de Dios Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 729 Victoria Street, Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2B5, in memory of Joe.
Joe was born in Santa Cruz das Flores, Azores, Portugal on July 11, 1927, and had been a resident of Revelstoke for 55 years. He loved gardening, snow blowing and walking. Locals will recall seeing Joe taking his daily walk to the ski hill, something he did for 28 years with his good friend. Joe loved his cars and especially enjoyed travelling in them. He was an avid hockey fan and there was nothing he enjoyed more than watching a good game of hockey.
Joe was predeceased by his parents and two sisters: Maria and Francelina. He is survived by his wife Clare of Revelstoke; one daughter Maria Medina (Michael Clarke) of Edmonton; one granddaughter Jenna Medina-Bergvall of Dallas, Texas; one sister, Fernanda (Umberto) Lopes of Stout, Massachusetts, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
