The RCMP were alerted n May 20 to the discovery of an abandoned vehicle on Big Mouth Creek Road off Highway 23N near Mica. The vehicle is a white 1996 Jeep Cherokee registered to Robert Cline Kinee.
“Based on the location of the vehicle, the deactivated logging road it was on and the condition it was in, it is believed the vehicle had been abandoned since the latter part of October 2014,” Cpl Thomas Blakney said in a statement released to the news media on Wednesday, June 3.
“RCMP believe that Robert Kinee checked out of a local hotel in Revelstoke on October 7, 2014, and may have travelled to Calgary to visit family and then returned to Revelstoke.”
Blakney said Kinee, who is also believed to have worked in Fort MacMurray, Alberta, was “known to some as a mushroom picker and tree planter and that may have been the reason for his vehicle to be parked in a fairly remote location.”
Robert Kinee is a 56-year-old Caucasian with brown, graying hair and green eyes. He is six feet tall (about 182 centimetres) with a slim build.
