EZ Rock is going back to the future

EZ Rock has a new resident DJ in Revelstoke — Shaun Aquiline. The Cloverdale native started hereabout two weeks and is very happy to be here. "I wanted to come here," he said in a brief interview on Friday, January 17. A dyed-in-the-wool hockey fan, he says his father played professional hockey in Denmark so he is looking forward to watching plenty of Grizzlies games. You can hear him during the morning show on 106.1 FM. You can contact him at 250-837-2149. David F. Rooney photo

Revelstoke’s EZ Rock station is changing its format and “going back to the future” starting this week, says on-air personality Shaun Aquiline.
Basically they’re looking back to the days when the local station was known as the Big R and its format was all-Revelstoke/all the time.
“The biggest switch that we’re doing is a change to what people we’re saying they wanted when I came to town: ‘local, local, local,'” Aquiline said in an interview on Friday, June 26. “I argued for that and my boss argued for that, too.
“There’s no more Golden content. There’s no more Salmon Arm content and there’s no more Invermere content. The only time you’ll hear anything related to those places will be in their advertising but that’s because they paid for it. That’s all right.”
Aquiline will continue doing his show on 106.1 FM every morning starting at 6 am and Salmon Arm DJ Rich Daniels will host an afternoon show, “but it will be a Revelstoke drive-type show.” Daniels will localize his afternoon show so that its focus remains a Revelstoke one, he said.
This switch started today, June 29, and while there “may be a few glitches, hiccups and snags along the way… this is going to be good for Revelstoke and good for the station.”
