An open house and a barbque from WorkBC

WorkBC held a barbque and open house on Monday that attracted the curious — and the hungry.
Here are a few photos from the event:

WorkBC’s Krista Stovel (center right) reads a testimonial from a bike mechanic who was thrilled with the way the agency was able to support him. This y9ung man had just started work at a local bike shop when he realized that he couldn’t hear anything mechanically wrong with the bikes he was working on. That puzzled and concerned him so took a hearing test and was told he had a profound hearing loss. “As one could imagine, when a mechanic cannot hear a problem in a bike it becomes impossible to fix and, if not corrected, I could lose my job,” he said in the testimonial. He went on to say that “the staff at WorkBC blew my expectations out of the water.” They helped find a solution to his problem and even offered financial assistance.  Today he is back at work as a mechanic and sales representative. “I would not be able to strive to that high level of accomplishment without the staff at WorkBC,” he said in his letter.  David F.
