Mounties warn of light bar thefts

The Revelstoke RCMP are warning the community to be aware of a recent rash of thefts.
“Over the past few days there have been several reports of LED off-road vehicle lights removed from vehicles,” Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a statement. “These lights are usually long black light bars with a large number of LEDs that produce a very bright light. Although usually not legal for street use, these LED bars are often mounted to the front of off-road trucks.”
He said LED light bars can range in price from several hundred dollars to, in one case, $2,000.
The Mounties are requesting any information from members of the public who might have seen someone removing such light bars from vehicles, often late at night or in the early morning.
Any person with knowledge of these thefts is asked to call the RCMP at 250-837-5255. Anonymous information can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
