Spring is here and that means the ever-popular Garden Guru series of talks and workshops is getting back into gear to the delight of local gardeners.
The North Columbia Environmental Society’s very popular annual program starts on Friday, May 15, with an illustrated talk by Robert Macrae on growing and collecting edible mushrooms. This is certainly a must-attend event for anyone who enjoys wild shrooms.
This event is being held at the Visual Arts Centre at 320 Wilson Street behind the Days Inn from 6 pm until 8 pm.
Then at 2 pm on the very next day he will lead edible fungus hunters on a Guided Mushroom Forage. This is perfect for those who want to hone their skill at picking out desirable fungi. It’s also a great activity for kids.
Back by popular demand, Robert Macrae will present an illustrated talk on growing and collecting edible mushrooms.
Pre-registration is required and will cost $25 for both or $15 for one.
Organizer Erin Wilkins notes that she needs a minimum of 12 people to run the workshop and she hopes everyone who hears about it will help spread the word.
