City staff have been directed to begin the planning for development of a multi-use trail that will extend from the south end of the Kingsbury Bridge to Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
Community Economic Development Director Alan Mason told City Council that “urban trail development was identified as a high priority” in the Revelstoke’s Resort Development Strategy. The Kingsbury Bridge spans the Illecillewaet River at the south end of the Greenbelt.
Municipal staff have considered possible routes for the trail a number of times in the past, he said at the Tuesday, April 14 meeting.
However, there could be a considerable price tag attached to this project. Some costs could likely be covered by tourism infrastructure money.
The Tourism Infrastructure Committee believes such a trail would be a great addition to the city’s trail infrastructure and tourism infrastructure.
