The Visual Arts Centre has a couple of fantastic shows opening on Friday, March 6, from 6 pm until 9 pm.

Erosion and Decay is the title of a mother-daughter show in the main gallery. The title  might sound a little iffy but the works by Patricia Crucil and her daughter Julia are drop-dead gorgeous. Patricia’s pieces are quilted hangings while Julia’s portion of the show is composed of large paintings of butterflies and moths.

In the side galleries is a lovely members’ show entitled Here, There and Everywhere. There are well over 60 paintings, drawings, ceramics and other pieces is the show and it is well worth seeing.

Both shows are open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from noon until 4 pm until April 3. Please click here to view the poster for more information.

Well that’s great for the adults but what about family entertainment? The Centre has that covered, too, with a Family Series performance by Aché Brasil, an amazing troupe that blends music, acrobatics, dance and spectacle.

These energetic performers will be on stage at The Centre on Saturday, March 14, starting at 7:30 pm.

The word “Aché” stems from Yoruba, meaning, “all things positive” and it is in this spirit that British Columbia’s foremost Brazilian music and dance troupe hopes to inspire others to explore the energetic and multi-faceted culture of Brazil. www.achebrasil.ca.
