It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Neale Alexander Patterson on January 29, 2015, at Broadmead Lodge after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was predeceased by his mother, father, two sisters and grandson, Devon. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lynne; children, Mike (Kim), Doug, Teresa, Calvin (Catherine), Roy, Shana (Dan) Kara (Tylor); grandchildren, Derek, Makena, Kelsie and great granddaughter, Devon and daughter-in-law, Pat.
Neale was born on April 14, 1930, in Prince George, BC, where he lived until he moved to the coast in the late 1960s and Victoria in 1972 to start a new career in the hotel business buying the Ingraham, then building the Best Western Wayside Inn in Revelstoke. He owned the Wayside from its construction in the late ’70s until it was sold to Sandman Inns in the spring of 2008. Neale’s hotel was operated as a Best Western property for the duration of his ownership, and he and his site contributed 30 years as strong and vital members of the Best Western family in Canada.
Neale Patterson touched many lives and helped build tourism in Revelstoke during those three decades. His legacy lies in the work of the numerous hoteliers who were team members at the Best Western Wayside property over the years. His spirit of hospitality lives on in their careers.
Neale loved the outdoors, fishing, skiing, but most of all flying and being with his friends and family at the cabin at Charlotte Lake. He was loved — and will be missed — by many; we can only hope that he has found a comfortable place at his cabin, where he will relax, fish, and fly his plane daily, into eternity.
We will all miss his strength and sense of humor. As per his wishes there will be no service. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favourite charity.
