By David F. Rooney There are few secrets in a small town and Revelstoke is no exception to that rule. However, some things are not as well known as they deserve to be… things like the Soup and a Smile program offered every Monday in the basement of the United Church. For a donation (Please make it generous!) you get a bowl of terrific soup, a bun, juice or water, a dessert and coffee or tea between 11:30 am and 1 pm. The program runs from the Monday after Thanksgiving until the Monday before Victoria Day and is a regular stop for cognoscenti of all kinds, including seniors, other residents and smart visitors. The program was shut down for two weeks over Christmas and New Year’s but resumed on Monday, January 5. Here are a few photos from the program that I hope you’ll enjoy: Soup and a Smile was the place to be on a snowy Monday morning. Not only did you get, as Judy Vigue (left) did, soup from Beth Campbell and a bun from Karen Pulver but you had a choice of vegetarian or, in Judy’s case, Albert Van Goor’s terrific Tuscan Ham and Bean. Soup and a Smile meals are delicious, affordable and enjoy a the patronage of seniors and other residents as well as frequent visitors to Revelstoke who know a good thing when they taste it. David F.
