Another truck incident closes the Trans-Canada Highway

The Trans-Canada was cut at Albert Canyon this morning, December 9, after a commercial tractor trailer jackknifed at a location that does not permit other vehicles to pass,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a statement.

“Road conditions are rated as ‘Winter conditions to poor winter conditions’ as it has snowed all night,” he said, adding that no one was injured in the single-vehicle mishap. “The incident occurred at approximately 6… Plows and sanders are on site actively maintaining the highway.”

The driver of the commercial transport truck is being issued a “speed relative to conditions” violation ticket, Grabinsky said.

The road will be opened as soon as the semi is removed.

Commercial drivers are encouraged to slow down, chain up where required and to drive according to changing winter conditions.

All drivers are encouraged to check DriveBC for updates on highway conditions.
