Greenbelt unveilings

By David F. Rooney

The illecillewaet Greenbelt Society’s directors were all smiles on Wednesday as they gathered in the late autumn patch of river-side forest to officially unveil a set of very artistic ceramic trail signs by Nancy Geismar and Mas Matsushita and a fantastic bench by Rod Aspeslet.

These two projects were completed with funding from the Province of BC’s Resort Municipality Initiative Program administered by the City of Revelstoke via its Tourism Infrastructure Committee. Councillors Linda Nixon and Steve Bender and CAO Tim Palmer represented the City at this event.

Here are a few photos from the unveiling:

Artists Mas Matsushita and Nancy Geismar (center, flanking the sign) produced six beautiful ceramic trail signs for the Greenbelt this summer and fall. The signs were officially unveiled on Wednesday, November 19, by Illecillewaet Greenbelt Society Directors Louisa F;eking, Don Pegues and Barb Kemerer. Board members Toni Johnston and Chris Johnston were not present for the ceremony, while I was behind the camera. David F. Rooney photo
