And so it starts: The first snow-related highway accidents of the year 2014-11-21Three commercial vehicle accidents — one of them serious — stopped traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway early Friday morning, November 21. “Of note was a serious MVI involving a West-bound commercial tractor trailer which crossed the centre line and struck an East-bound Ford F250 pick up truck,” Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a news statement. “The two male occupants, from Quebec and Ontario, of the commercial vehicle were uninjured however the sole male occupant (BC resident age 65 years) of the pickup sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Queen Victoria Hospital in Revelstoke for treatment.” The incident happened approximately two kilometres west of the Enchanted Forest/Sky Trek tourist attraction and resulted in the TCH being closed for several hours. Once the two vehicles were removed from the roadway, traffic resumed to normal. “Drivers are encouraged to check DriveBC for updates on highway conditions and to drive according to conditions,” Grabinsky said. “Drivers should also ensure they are using proper winter tires.” Photo courtesy of the Revelstoke RCMP
