Weekend events worth noting

Are you ready for the 2014 Terry Fox Run?

This year’s event runs from 8 am until 11 pm and starts and ends at the Revelstoke Golf Club. If you have not already registered for this year’s run please pick up a registration form from The Last Tee at the club.

The Terry Fox Run is 10 kilometres long allows for runners, bicyclists, walkers and skateboarders. After this event the Revelstoke Golf Club is offering free golf if you golf with a child 12 years old or under. You can Book a tee time by calling the pro shop 250-837-4276.

Celebrate the Summit — Parks Canada’s final event celebrating Mount Revelstoke National Park’s Centennial — is being held on Saturday, September 13.

The event at Balsam Lake is being held from 10 am until 3 pm and includes a live alphorn performance by Daryl Caswell from 12 pm until 4 pm, costumed interpreters and art activities, including a collective canvas painting, as well as the second annual Eva Lake Alpine Trail Run. Registration for the run takes place at 9:30 am with the run starting at 10 am.

The Performing Arts Centre will bubble over with magic and Vaudeville-style comedy on Saturday, September 13, with the first of its Family Series events at 3 pm and 7:30 pm.

The BC Interior Forestry Museum is offering an Outdoor Movie Night on Friday, September 12 and September 19, at 8 pm.

The first film is the award-winning Canadian tree planting documentary 78 Days. The film starts at 8 pm, so come early to set up your chair or blanket in a good spot and don’t forget to bring a thermos full of tea or hot chocolate.
