The Mounties are warning vehicle owners to make sure their cars and trucks are securely locked at all times to deter thieves who are prowling city streets at night.
“The Revelstoke RCMP cannot stress enough the importance of locking your vehicle and either removing valuables from the vehicle or keeping them out of sight, such as in the trunk,” Cpl. Thomas Blakney said in a statement release late Friday, September 19. “Also, if possible, park your vehicle in a well-lit area.”
He said the detachment has received many reports of car prowlers and thefts from cars and trucks, the most recent being along Oscar and Edward Streets.
Blakney encouraged resident to report any suspicious persons and/or activity by calling the detachment at 250-837-5255. Anyone with information about these crimes should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. You can also click here to visit their website.
