Friday evening art exhibition opening drew 127 people to see the gorgeous images created by Jackie Pendergast, Coreen Tucker and Zuzana Driediger, and Cara Sharp.
I sold 5 pieces, 5 hearts and three scarves,” Jackie said. “Coreen sold 6 pieces. That’s so far! So a very successful opening.
“I don’t ever remember seeing so many people crying at a show. I guess people related to the sentiment of some of the pieces and experiences they depicted. I was humbled by people’s comments about my work.”
Jackie’s 30-piece show, entitled Songs of My Heart, captured moments from her life and had a musical theme. Coreen’s show, called Postcards from Revelstoke covered a range of subjects from Mount Begbie to cedar and hemlock branches.
Her most striking image of her eclectic show was Universal Code.
“I really liked the image of that portrait so I transferred it and them, I guess, I doodled from there,” she said.
Doodles indeed! Her hand-drawn additions to the picture add both mystery and hint of the digital world to it.
Both Zuzana and Cara were out of town and could not attend the opening but their work in The Art of the Book — Book Illustrations garnered a lot of attention.
The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday 12 – 4 pm and this show until Friday, September 26. For more information phone 250-814-0261 or send an e-mail info@revelstokevisualarts.
