A prestigious award for a great firefighter

Assistant Chief/Training Officer Dan Hutchison received a Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal and Certificate from the Governor General of Canada for 30 years of loyal and exemplary service to the public. Fire Chief Rob Girard presented the prestigious award to Dan during a Wednesday night meeting of the Revelstoke Fire Rescue Service firefighters. The chief expressed the City of Revelstoke’s appreciation of long service and Dan’s contribution to our great community. “It is very hard to pick one or even two after so many years and so many calls,” Dan said when asked about his most memorable moment. What inspires me after all these years are the appreciative gestures from the citizens we serve and the individuals I work and train with. It is very rewarding when you respond to someone’s need and do your best and they are so gracious. In turn, I am so grateful to be able to continue in this career, hopefully for many more years.” Dan joined the Revelstoke Fire Department in April 1984 and became a Career Firefighter in 1995 and Assistant Chief/Training Officer in September 2010.
