Lock up your vehicles and homes! Thieves are at work in the city

There have been four known vehicle break-ins recently and the local RCMP detachment is warning residents and visitors to remember to lock their car doors and secure or remove valuable property from sight. It is also recommended that they lock home doors and secure valuable property in yards.

“(The detachment) has received four complaints from locals and tourists of vehicles that have been entered overnight with personal belongings removed,” Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a statement released on Thursday, August 7. “Clothing items, bags, jerry cans of fuel and electronics have been taken. No suspect has yet been located. Police continue to investigate.”

He said the thefts occurred in the area of the hotels at the west end of Victoria Road as well as at a residence on Eighth Street.

If you suspect that your vehicle has been entered or items have been taken, please contact the Revelstoke RCMP at 250-837-5255 to report the incident.
