City rescinds its ban on special occasion fires

The City has — just in time for Homecoming — rescinded its ban on special occasion fires.

“Effective at 4 pm Pacific Time on Friday, August 15, Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services advises that Special Occasion Fires are once again permitted within the City of Revelstoke, subject to the provisions of Municipal Bylaw 1772, section 5.0, Open Air Burning,” says a statement issued by the service earlier Friday afternoon.

“The lifting of the Special Occasion Fire Ban is due to current cool and wet weather conditions and coincides with the lifting of the campfire ban by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, Southeast Fire Centre.”

To report a fire emergency, please call 911. For more information, pleased call Revelstoke Fire Rescue Services at 250-837-2884
