An ooey-gooey-slimey Summer Reading Club event

100 years ago a public library would not have dreamed holding an event like Time for Slime. Nor would a library in the 1950s or ’60s. By the 1970s adventurous librarians might have thought of something like this but it took the 21st century to make the production of slime something you can actually expect from a public library.

And — Wow! — the kids in this year’s Summer Reading Club really went to town producing some really disgusting-looking but oh-so-fun slime. Take a look:

Kids in the Summer Reading Club had some Time for Slime on Wednesday, July 30. What was it like? Well, you can almost read this youngster's mind: That's so gross it's GREAT! Mia Scott photo

Look, Mom! It oozes. This was a very popular special event at this year's SRC at the Revelstoke Branch of the Okanagan Regional Library. Mia Scott photo
