Motorcyclist killed during a lethal logging-road encounter

A 33-year-old Revelstoke man who was motorbiking on the Crawford logging road south of Revelstoke at about 4 pm on Friday, July 4, was killed after he encountered a Ford F250 pickup truck, RCMP said Saturday.

“It was determined that two males were riding their dirt bikes southbound (at about the 22-kilometre mark), when they crested a hill and encountered a northbound pickup truck,” Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said in a statement.

“One rider manoeuvred left around the truck, while the other rider lost control and skidded with his bike into the front of the Ford F250 pickup. The rider was unconscious and had trouble breathing and then shortly succumbed to his injuries.”

The BC Coroner Service attended to the scene and the RCMP assisted with the investigation.

The Revelstoke RCMP reminds all motorists to use caution when travelling on logging roads.
