With Gay Pride being celebrated in a big way in places like Toronto and Seattle, Revelstoke is having its own modest Pride party on Thursday, June 26, at Castle Joe Books from 7 pm until 9 pm.

With a drop-in fee of $2, there will be snacks and refreshments for all members of the local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer and Questioning community who’d care to drop by for the Rainbow Mustaches and Tiny Top Hats Party.

“This is a safe place where people that are LGBTQQ/ALLIES can come together to enjoy each others company,” said the organizer.

Toronto is hosting the World Pride Party and Seattle has the Trans-Pride event.

It’s almost time to celebrate Canada’s 147th birthday!

Canada Day is next Tuesday, July 1, and Revelstoke will celebrate it in time-honoured fashion with a parade through the downtown core followed by music, bocce games and other activities at Queen Elizabeth Park.

The parade gets under way from the Provincial Court House at 12 and runs until 1 pm. This year’s theme is the 100th anniversary of Mount Revelstoke.
