In Pictures: The 2458 Rocky Mountain Rangers’ 62nd Annual Ceremonial Review

The 2458 Rocky Mountain Rangers Cadet Corps held their 62nd Annual Ceremonial Review at at the decommissioned Mount Begbie Elementary School on Sunday before an enthusiastic audience.
The Revelstoke Army Cadet Corps was formed in 1952 and, in 1966, redesignaetd as 2458 Rocky Mountain Rangers (Revelstoke) Cadet Corps. Over the years since then hundreds of young men and women between the ages of 12 and 18 have joined its ranks gaining valuable skills in adventure training, orienteering, map and compass, leadership, first aid, music, marksmanship, radio communications, field craft, effective speaking, and search and rescue.

The Lord Strathcona Medal is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a Canadian cadet in recognition of exemplary performance in physical and military training. Lord Strathcona’s objectives in establishing his endowment were to encourage the improvement of the physical and intellectual capabilities of cadets and foster patriotism in cadets through the acquisition of a good knowledge of military matters.
