Trans-Canada traffic stop yields dope

Mounties attached to the Trans Canada East Traffic Services Unit and the Revelstoke Integrated Road Safety Unit stopped what a news statement characterized as “two vehicles of interest” on Wednesday, May 7.

The two vehicles were located just east of Revelstoke on the Trans-Canada Highway. Both were destined for Calgary.

“As a result of the traffic stop and investigation, cocaine, marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia were seized,” the statement said. “The cocaine had a street value estimated at $5,000, and the marijuana was estimated at $1,000. In addition, $1,000, in cash was seized. Four persons have been arrested and released and will be facing Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges in Revelstoke with a court date in July.” This seizure follows a very successful enforcement program with over 50 drug seizures on area highways in the month of March.
