RICHMOND — The Revelstoke Pee Wee team placed third at the Provincial Championships this week. They gave it a terrific effort and emerged with a record of 3 wins, 2 ties and 1 loss by only 1 goal.
The team competed hard and should be very proud of how they represented Revelstoke and the Okanagan.
The first game on March 15 was against Victoria and Revelstoke had a strong start winning 13-0.
March 16 was a double game day for the team. The first early morning game was versus North Shore Winter Club. This team had lost their first game the day before and were trying to stay alive. It was a tight match that ended with a 6-6 tie. The second game of the day was against Prince George and our team took the game 6-1.
March 17 saw Revelstoke play Seafair, the host team. They were undefeated at this point in the tournament and Revelstoke played a solid game for all three periods. The game ended in a 4-4 tie when luck was not with us and a goal for them was declared although the puck was not across the line before the whistle was blown.
Our fifth game on March 18 with Elk Valley was again a true battle. We knew we needed to win to capture a berth in the championship match. The boys remained strong and battled to the end. A disallowed goal was again heartbreaking as we ended with our only loss with a score of 4-3.
March 19 brought us to the bronze medal match versus Burns Lake. Our team again kept strong and rallied together to win 6-5.
It was a fantastic experience to be at Provincials and to compete so strongly at this level.
Thank you to everyone from Revelstoke who so generously supported our Pee Wee team. You can be proud of them.
