Funding approved for 34 of 36 Community Initiative Program applications

City Council has approved 34 of 36 applications for $337,079 in funding through the Columbia Basin Trust’s Affected Areas and Community Initiatives Program.

Two applications — one for an Interactive Dance Program offered by a group called SQx Danza and an College pitch for new services — were rejected.

Community-based organizations made their pitch for funding during a public meeting earlier this month. (Please click here to read about that meeting.)

“It is a very difficult task to review the various proposals, and the Program Evaluation Committee selected by City Council and the CSRD Regional District Area B Director again did an excellent job of evaluating the proposals on behalf of local government and the community,” said a report to Council from Community Economic Development Director Alan Mason.
