Driver was lucky he wore his seatbelt

A 28-year-old man discovered the hard way that winter driving conditions don’t let you speed — perhaps especially on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Enchanted Forest. The driver of this East-bound vehicle is no doubt thanking his lucky stars that he was wearing his seatbelt when he lost control of his car, swerved into the West-bound lane then struck the cement barrier. His car (left) was propelled through the air and landed upside down on a frozen creek. He walked away, with the help of a passing motorist, from this accident and was treated at hospital in Salmon Arm for minor injuries. He was subsequently issued a ticket for going too fast for the conditions. Photo courtesy of the Revelstoke RCMP
