Mona Anita Chornoby, the woman most Revelstokians know simply as Mona, was found Tuesday morning shortly after Revelstoke RCMP opened a missing person’s file on her. Mona dropped out of sight on Sunday.
“She was seen down by the vet’s clinic and a member stopped and spoke with her,” Sgt. Kim Hall told The Current two hours after a news release was issued at 7:15 am on Tuesday, January 21, about her apparent disappearance. “She’s okay.”
A number of people are very concerned about Mona’s well-being, including the Mounties. And there apparently is a list of places and people she might be with when, as happened in this case, she drops off people’s radar. However, it’s not a perfect list and this individual was unknown to those folks who keep track of Mona for her own safety.
Sgt. Kim Hall said the missing person’s file was opened after Mona missed a number of appointments with friends
“She was last seen on Sunday sometime between 8 am and 9 am by her care worker,” Sgt. Hall said on Tuesday morning. “We do have her on video from 1-1:30 at the 7-11.”
Mona is 54 years of age, five feet three inches tall and weighs about 100 pounds. She has shoulder-length brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a light blue jacket, purple pans and running shoes that are too big for her feet.
If you see her please contact the RCMP immediately at 250-837-5255.
