Revelstoke figure skaters brought home some serious bling from the recent Okanagan Interclub Figure Skating Competition.

Led by senior skater Megan Cottingham who achieved a personal best at the competition with two gold medal and two silver medal performances, the girls won a total of nine medals in ranked events and delivered two gold, four silver, and four bronze-rated performances during assessed events.

“I would like to congratulate all our skaters for such strong skating at their first competition of the year,” said Head Coach Nina Greschner. “This is a great start to the season and I am very proud of them for their dedication and hard work that allowed them to reach their goals.”

A total of 13 senior and intermediate skaters from Revelstoke competed during the three-day event in Winfield that wrapped up on December 2, 2013.

More and more of our Revelstoke skaters are participating in competitions.” said Greschner. “This experience is a great confidence builder because it shows our skaters that they have the skills to successfully compete with other skaters in the province, even those from the larger centres.”

In addition to preparing skaters for competitions, the Revelstoke Skating Club is building upon the very successful Superhero and Villains Skating Carnival last year and working hard to plan another top-notch figure skating event scheduled for Thursday March 13, 2013 in Revelstoke. Mark the date on your calendar and plan to come to see a terrific show and support our local skaters.

This year the Revelstoke Skating Club has continued to expand and improve its programs for both young and adult skaters with the help of a strong coaching staff under the guidance of Head Coach Nina Greschner. The Club offers Skate Canada Kidskate and Canskate plus development programs for Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Adult skaters that run September through March. The Club also offers a Powerskate program that builds strong skating skills for all skaters. The Powerskate Program is accepting new registrations for the January session.
