Glow in the dark yoga? Why not!

Here’s a really different idea for a Food Bank fund-raiser: the ladies at Balu Yoga Studio are organizing a Glow-Yoga event for Wednesday, December 11, at the Traverse Night Club starting at 7:30 pm.

Like a blast from the past this special community yoga class will be set to black lights and live music by DJ Wesside.

“The yoga portion of the evening will be 1.5 hours followed by mingling and dancing (the bar will be open until 10 pm),” said a statement from Balu Yoga.

The doors open by 10 pm for all those not joining in with the yoga glow and bar will be open until 1 am.

“What to bring: Yoga mat and any yoga props you might need.  Optional items include glowable clothing or face paint — white and neon colours show up best; non-perishable food or a child’s toy for donation to the Food Bank.  For those who do not have yoga mats, there will be a limited supply of yoga props at the event.”

The statement called this “a fun, interactive opportunity to come together as a community in the spirit of the holiday season and raise funds and food” for the Community Connections Food Bank.”

The Current agrees. This is one of the most unusual fund- and food-raisers for the Food Bank that I’ve seen in a decade writing about Revelstoke.

Entry is $15 or $10 with a donation of a non-perishable food item or a child’s toy.
