Kids will enjoy Radar the Rescue Dog!

Zuzana Driediger has a reputation as a talented artist — in fact, practically her entire house is a work of art — and now she's a published book illustrator, as well. Radar the Rescue Dog is a brand new children's book by writer Janet Love Morrison. It tells the story of Radar, who was Whistler's very first avalanche rescue do. Radar's owner was Bruce Watt, one of the original founders of the Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association (CARDA). As it turns out, Zuzana is herself a CARDA member. With a foreword written by Justin Trudeau, whose brother Sasha died in an avalanche in the Kootenays, and illustrated with 15 full colour images by Zuzana, Radar the Rescue Dog is a delightful cautionary tale aimed squarely at children who live in or who frequently visit the mountains in winter. You can find this book at the Revelstoke branch of the Okanagan Regional LIbrary and it may also be carried at Grizzly Books and Castle Joe Books. Kendra Runnalls photo
