First figure skating workshop in Revelstoke a big success

Skaters from across the Columbia came to Revelstoke on Saturday October 5 to learn skills from a dynamic husband and wife duo at a Skating SuccessTM workshop hosted by the Revelstoke Figure Skating Club.

“The Club is focused on developing local skaters and in addition to hosting special workshops, our talented and experienced coaches are delivering comprehensive Skate Canada programs this year,” said Skating Club President Liane Dorrius. “Our renewed programs and skating events will help both junior and senior skaters build skills and achieve their goals.”

During the workshop three-time Canadian National Medalist and World Competitor, Ben Ferreira, and figure skating choreographer and performance coach, Jadene Ferreira, worked with 24 skaters and coaches in a fast-paced program designed to hone jumping, footwork, and choreography skills.

“The Revelstoke Figure Skating Club is hoping to build on our success last year and has re-designed our skating programs with the help of our experienced and talented coaching team,” said Dorrius, “Upcoming spectator events to watch for include our Christmas Show Off in December and Spring Carnival in March, we would love to see you all there.”

Revelstoke Figure Skating Club offers programs for all skaters delivered by Head Coach Nina Greschner and Coaches Adrienne Shurdevin, Tracey McKinney, and Shawn Bracken. Programs include Kidskate and Canskate, a StarSkate program which allows skaters to participate in skating competitions, a Powerskate program for hockey players and figure skaters, as well as a competitive program for developing skaters, and programs for adults.
