The Revelstoke Racquet Den’s Seventh Annual Bear’s Den Classic Squash Tournament is set for this weekend with over 46 entrants from across BC and even as far afield as Winnipeg.
“The Bear’s Den Tournament has built up quite a reputation,” Kevin Dorrius said Monday.
“We’ll see some excellent matches this weekend.”
There are 15 local players in the tournament. The rest are all from out of town.
Among the people to watch will be Stuart Smith, the defending Men’s A-level champion and Rebecca Vassilakikas, the No. 7 women’s player in the province.
The club has a number of very active — and good — youth players. They should put on a pretty good show when they play their out-of-town opponents.
“Rebecca is a wonderful role model and mentor for girls and women players,” Kevin said, adding that his young daughters are eager to see her in action.
Play will start at 3 pm on Friday (some local play may start on Thursday night) and continue through to about 2 pm or 3 pm on Sunday.”
The Current will publish the draws for the tournament as they become available.
