On Saturday, September 14, members of the Revelstoke RCMP detachment and the Trans-Canada East Traffic service responded to a report of a single vehicle collision at Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk at about 4:30 pm.
A statement from Const. Gary MacLaughlin said members arrived on the scene about 20 kilometres east of to find that a westbound 2013 Hyundai Accent had left the roadway and entered the Illecillewaet River. The sole person in the vehicle was a 58-year-old man from South Korea. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The BC Coroner’s Service has declined to release the identity of the man pending notificaton of his next of kin.
