All levels of government are working together to ensure funding for Trans-Canada Highway

Speaking together with one voice is necessary to ensure funding for Trans-Canada Highway improvements, and bringing all levels of government to the table is the way to get things done, says Columbia River – Revelstoke MLA Norm Macdonald.

“Federal money is the trigger for the next major project on the Trans-Canada,” Macdonald said in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 4.  “And the federal government is in the process of deciding on infrastructure funding right now.”

Macdonald has been working closely with Columbia-Kootenay MP David Wilks, and a meeting is in the process of being set up with Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs to showcase the need for improvements on this area’s portion of the Trans-Canada Highway.

“I’ve had discussions with the new provincial Minister of Transportation.  And MP Wilks and I have the full support of Mayor of Revelstoke David Raven and Mayor of Golden Christina Benty.

“As the political representatives for this area, we are making a strong and unified push to ensure that our improvement projects make it on Minister Lebel’s list.”
