Basin Culture Tour starts August 10

The Columbia Basin Culture Tour, which encourages people to explore artists’ studios, museums, art galleries and heritage sites, is taking place August 10-11 from 10 am – 5 pm.

All you need to participate in the self-guided tour, is a map and a Culture Tour Directory. Tour brochures are available at tourist information centres and participating venues. Visit the website at www.cbculturetour.comto view full artist/venue profiles as well as details on each location’s activities. You can also register to receive a tour brochure in the mail.

Here in Revelstoke there are a number of venues open to members of the public. These include:

  • The BC Interior Forestry Museum, which focuses the long history of forestry in a region known for its precipitation and interior rainforest ecosystem. The museum, located beside BC Hydro’s Revelstoke Dam, has exhibits that include logging equipment as well as a gift shop with local creations and fantastic picnic grounds.
  • The Revelstoke Visual Arts Society’s facility at 320 Wilson Street is dedicated to the creation, exhibition and promotion of the visual arts. Their annual Art Fair showcases the talents of its artist members. All work is available for immediate sale.
  • The ArtFirst! Gallery, located on First Street West, displays the work of local artists, as well as some from elsewhere in the Basin.
